I recently participated in an exhilarating cycling event that spanned 108 km, beginning in Witham, Essex. The route featured checkpoints at Thaxted, Elsenham, Rainbow Rural, and The Battesford Court in Witham, along with an additional information control point. This ride was a fresh take on a classic route, with the starting point now set at The Battesford Court in Witham. There were commercial checkpoints at the 33 km and 64 km marks, with a special visit to Rainbow Rural Care Farm near Barnston at the 81 km mark on the return journey.
The first half of the ride became challenging due to a persistent headwind. Although it wasn’t overly strong, it was undeniably draining.
