This was my first training run for the Vitality 10,000 in September, and also my first run since November last year, so the main aim was simply to get moving again and see how it felt.
I covered 3.02 km in 23:28, averaging 7:47/km. Most importantly, it felt good. I rated the effort just 1/10 (very light), with an average heart rate of 123 bpm and a maximum of 131 bpm. I finished with plenty left in the tank, with Garmin estimating 71% stamina remaining.
Garmin recorded a 4.0 aerobic training effect, while my cadence averaged 167 spm. For a first run back after roughly nine months away from running, I’m less concerned about pace and more encouraged by how comfortable and controlled the run felt.
A positive starting point. Now the goal is to build the distance gradually towards 10K in September.
