Today I had planned a 70-mile ride, but after last Thursday’s bout of exhaustion, I knew it was smarter to dial things back. Instead of pushing too hard too soon, I opted for a shorter local loop to start rebuilding my strength.
I ended up clocking 32 miles, not too bad, and I felt good by the end of it. That’s a good sign after the extreme tiredness I experienced during last Thursday’s ride that things are heading in the right direction. Rather than jumping straight back into big distances, I’m going to ramp up the miles and track my progress properly, gradually.
And there was the inevitable headwind to contend with, 18 mph, gusting up to 28, which definitely made things tougher. Still, it’s all part of the training.
