It felt great to get back on the bike today and catch up with the CTC South Essex Group. On a brisk morning, I started my ride with a 17-mile journey to the meeting point in Wickford. Although it was still autumn, there was a definite feeling of winter in the air. From there, we rode to Ingatestone Saddlery for a well-deserved break. I enjoyed a delicious cheese and ham sandwich with crisps, salad, and a large latte.
The ride home was a bit of a challenge, with a relentless headwind. After not riding much for the past four weeks due to an injury, I could really feel the impact on my fitness. I was completely exhausted about 15 miles from home, though the headwind certainly didn’t help!
