I’ve always wanted to participate in the Ride London 100 since it was introduced after the 2012 Olympics, but I’ve never managed to get a place in the ballots. For some reason, I didn’t opt to go for a charity place. This year the criteria was changed, and the first 10,000 people to apply automatically got a place. So no need to worry about the ballot. I went for that and was successful. So this is the story of my ride. It’s an entirely new route this year, heading out across Essex rather than Kent. It’s a shame I didn’t manage to ride up Box Hill, but from everything I’ve heard about it, that seemed to have been a bit of a car crash. But yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed this ride. I was pretty pleased with my time too.
